Area

A free 24-ounce beverage of any kind for all veterans at Aroma Joe’s. Area locations include: 166 Center St. in Auburn; 3 Bangor St. in Augusta; Big Apple Store, 205 Western Ave. in Augusta; 1930 S Lisbon Road in Lewiston; 403 Sabattus St. in Lewiston, 692 Lisbon St. in Lisbon; 1570 Main St. in Oxford; 214 Madison Ave. in Skowhegan, 268 Depot St. in Unity; 84 Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville; and 9 Bay St. in Winslow.

Augusta

VA Maine’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony, 8 a.m., Togus, flagpole commons outside of Building 200, 1 VA Center; 207-623-8411, va.gov.

The church bells of Penney Memorial Baptist Church, South Parish Congregational Church and St. Mary’s will resound to honor our Veterans on Nov. 11. They begin ring at 11 a.m. and will ring for 5 minutes. This is a tradition the started five years ago to honor military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

Farmington

The annual Veterans Day Breakfast and Flag Raising Ceremony is planned at MaineHealth Franklin Hospital to honor local veterans and active-duty military personnel. The breakfast is set for 8-10 a.m. in the Bass Room on the Franklin campus at 111 Franklin Health Commons, with a flag-raising ceremony planned at 9 a.m. outside the hospital.

Veterans, their families, and community members are invited. The complimentary breakfast will feature a welcome address by community leader and veteran advocate Tom Saviello. Saviello will deliver remarks on the importance of honoring service and sacrifice before leading attendees outside for the flag-raising ceremony.

The Veterans Flag will be raised with the American Legion Post 28 Color Guard participating.

Hallowell

Goodrich-Caldwell American Legion Post 6 has planned Veterans Day events on Monday, Nov. 11.

Veterans and their families can gather at 9 a.m. at the 114 Second St. post, where breakfast will be served by Boy Scout Troop 647 Alumni. All veterans are invited.

A raffle drawing will be held at 10:30 a.m. Attendees and members of the community can assemble at the Veterans Memorial in Legion Park at the Hallowell cemetery for the 11 a.m. ceremony.

Leeds

A Veterans Day observance is set for 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Veteran’s Memorial Park at the corner of Route 106 and Church Hill Road.

Skowhegan

Skowhegan-Madison Elks Lodge Chili and Dynamite Cook Off for our veterans is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at the lodge at 21 Silver St.

For $5 per cup attendees can sample and vote for their favorites. Lodge gift cards will go to the winner of each category.

Third annual Veterans Day Outreach event is set for noon-2 p.m.  at  Skowhegan-Madison Elks Lodge, 21 Silver St.

Veterans Administration personnel will be onsite to help answer questions related to benefits and healthcare. Numerous other Veterans organizations and local non-profits will also be on hand to discuss their services and programs.

There will be live music featuring Healing Through Every Beat and Matthew Schaeffer and free lunch for all veterans.

Waterville

Veteran’s Day Parade, 11 a.m. 21 College Ave. to Main Street with a short ceremony at Castonguay Square followed by a free lunch at the Winslow VFW for veterans and guests.Lineup begins at 10 a.m. for parking and line up.
