SKOWHEGAN — SKOW-Whoville is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7. The annual parade will kickoff the weekend of festivities on Friday night and Saturday will be filled with Grinch-themed activities.

Free movies will be screened Friday, Dec. 6, at Spotlight Cinemas at the Strand. “The Polar Express” will begin at 4 p.m. and “A Christmas Story” is set for 4:30 p.m.The SKOW-Whoville Parade featuring the Grinch, Martha Mae, and Mr. and Mrs. Clause, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6,  from Water Street to the District Court Parking Lot;.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, Breakfast with Santa is set for 7:30-10 a.m. at the Skowhegan Federated Church, Tewksbury Hall, 13 Island Ave.; 207-474-2776.

Free movies will be shown at Spotlight Cinemas at the Strand. “A Christmas Story” is set for 10 a.m. and “Christmas With the Kranks” at 10:30 a.m.

Friends of the Library Bake Sale, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 61 Water St. and the Skowhegan Free Public Library, 9 Elm St. Santa Claus Storytime will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the library followed by a craft and photos.

A Tree Festival is planned from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Redington Memorial Home, 11 North Ave. Vote for your favorite Christmas tree decorated by local businesses. There will be a first-place winner, a runner-up, and an honorable mention. Drinks and snacks will be available. Santa Claus will be there.

SKOW-Whovillage Stroll is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. downtown. Activities include Grinch, Martha Mae, Cindy Lou Who and Max the Dog appearances, a petting zoo, “The Grinch” story walk on the Debe River Walk, free hot chocolate and Who-mallow roasting, Grinch games, horse and carriage rides, letters to Santa at Joe’s Flat Iron Cafe at 65 Water St., cookie decorating, Christmas card and ornament making, the Grinch scavenger hunt and more.

SKOW-WhoCrawl is set for 6:30-9 p.m. downtown. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit giveffect.com.

Free movies will be screened Sunday, Dec. 8, at Spotlight Cinemas at the Strand. “The Polar Express” 2will begin at 10 a.m. and “Christmas with the Kranks” is set for 10:30 a.m..

Also, the Community Giving Tree organized by Main Street Skowhegan, 65 Water St. will have a Giving Tree located outside their Skowhegan Outdoors Basecamp. The tree will be decorated with hats, gloves, mittens and warm socks, all are welcome to add items to the tree Dec. 2 through Jan. 2, 2025.
