The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who allegedly drove a vehicle over a woman in Bingham early Saturday as she was trying to convince him not to drive while intoxicated.
Somerset Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Michael Mitchell said Ryan Paul Mann, 43, of Skowhegan, is considered a person of interest in the incident, which is believed to have occurred between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Tyler Avenue in Bingham. Mitchell said Somerset Deputy Jeffrey Brann was called to the scene around 4:30 a.m.
Citing information relayed to him by Brann, Mitchell said Mann reportedly drove to Bingham after having an argument with his girlfriend in Skowhegan and went to visit friends, a man and a woman who live on Tyler Avenue in Bingham. The couple went to bed and woke to find Mann extremely intoxicated and urinating on their furniture, according to Mitchell.
Mann got into his vehicle to leave and the woman tried to convince him not to drive, Mitchell said. She had the passenger door of the vehicle open when Mann put the vehicle into reverse and she became trapped, was knocked to the ground, and the vehicle’s front passenger tire drove over her, Mitchell said.
The couple called Mann’s girlfriend in Skowhegan, who called police, and the Bingham woman who was injured was taken by ambulance to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, Mitchell said.
“We’re looking for Mr. Mann as a person of interest because we’d like to talk to him about what happened up there,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell said he did not know the extent of the Bingham woman’s injuries, but Brann reported she was in a lot of pain after the incident.
